Tobogganing fun. A highlight for the whole family.

Tobogganing is part and parcel of every winter holiday in Pitztal Valley. Depending on the snow conditions, different runs allow you to enjoy leisurely descents or whizz down the mountain. Whether it's with family, friends or as a spontaneous outing, tobogganing combines exercise and fun, creating memorable winter moments.

WildSpitze tobogganing tips

The Taschachalm run is a popular natural toboggan run. Ideal for families, beginners and anyone who prefers to take it easy. The descent is approximately 1.5 kilometres long. Night tobogganing is available daily from 5.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. (not illuminated, so please bring a head torch).

Toboggan hire: €10 per toboggan. Return at the end of the run to the signposted car park.

The Hochzeiger toboggan run is a highlight during your winter holiday in Pitztal Valley: in less than 15 minutes, the gondola takes you to the start at 2,000 metres above sea level. From there, the 6-kilometre natural toboggan run leads through a Swiss pine forest to Kaitanger, only around a 5-minute walk from the bottom station for the cable car.

You can stop for refreshments at the Zeiger restaurant or one of the huts in the ski resort. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If conditions permit, the run is illuminated at night on Thursdays from 7.30 p.m. to midnight.

Ski touring. Freedom all around.

Ski touring and ski mountaineering in Pitztal Valley open up a wintry mountain world away from the slopes – from easy, enjoyable routes to demanding, high Alpine destinations. Many tours lead up to the surrounding three-thousand-metre peaks and reward skiers with clear views and quiet moments in untouched landscapes. For greater safety and orientation, we recommend guided ski tours – to access remote areas and professionally assess the route and conditions.

WildSpitze ski tour tips

Ski touring up to Wildspitze mountain (3,774 metres above sea level), the Roof of Tyrol, is a high Alpine undertaking for very experienced mountaineers. The starting point is the top station for the Mittelbergbahn cable car (3,280 metres above sea level).

After a short descent to the Mittelbergjoch saddle, the route climbs steeply, partly in zigzags, towards the summit. Allow approximately six to seven hours; the descent is usually along the ascent route. Requiring a good level of fitness and experience, this tour is certainly unforgettable and rewards you with a sublime view.

Ski tours in the Rifflsee area not only lead along the lake, but also to striking peaks, such as K2 (3,253 metres above sea level). From Rifflsee, you climb over the Löcherferner glacier into high Alpine terrain, past rock formations and glacier passages with views of the surrounding Ötztal Alps.

These tours require experience as well as good and safe conditions, but reward skiers with stunningly clear views and long descents back down into the valley.
